Events

Regular road, path or cross-country runs are held on Wednesdays at 6:00pm / 6:15pm at pre-determined courses in the greater Darwin area. On weekends there are a few special events such as the Cross-Country Championships at Knuckey Lagoon Reserve, the Half Marathon and the City to Surf.

Wednesday events are usually 2 and 5km, with some at 3, 6, 9 and 10km. There is a 5 / 10 / 15km road run, on a Saturday, mid year. Most courses are measured with a surveyor’s wheel, GPS and Google Maps while others are a good estimate.

Calendar

A calendar is produced on an annual basis from April to April listing all runs in the year. The calendar is posted on this web site, is available in the club’s trailer at weekly runs, and is also placed in sports stores around Darwin.

Competing

While Darwin’s best cross-country and road runners regularly participate and keenly compete, varying levels of competition emerge within a run or walk due to differing ages and abilities. On the other hand, some members are not out there to compete, but wish to engage in regular exercise to improve their fitness, supported by the presence of others. The club has always encouraged people of all ages and abilities who are willing to enjoy the improvement in fitness that running or walking brings. The youngest member is 1 and the oldest is 80. Many members supplement the club’s runs with their own runs through the week.

Timing

Times are recorded for most events using electronic RFID timing equipment. The results are posted on this web site and at times in the Northern Territory News.
